Some of you may remember my bicycle series in which I would take the tools of a profession and turn them into bicycles. I am now beginning to do something similar with portraits. I am taking things that have meaning to an individual and incorporating them into the portrait of that person. Historically, this is nothing new to painting, but I haven't done it before, so it is fun. The downside is that it is taking a lot longer to research, draw and organize images in the portrait. Currently I am still drawing the background around a portrait that I finished two weeks ago.
