I want to show you the process of coloring the glasses’
frames because there is a big difference between watercolors and other media.
It has taken me decades to understand the concept of layers. The more layers,
the deeper and richer the colors. Most beginner watercolor artists don’t go far
enough to get those rich hues. That requires a lot of patience, but, for me,
worth it in the end. Anymore there is no need to be concerned about going too
deep because we can always use watercolor ground or gouache to make
corrections.
So I began with watery colors of ochre, red and brown. That’s
what you see here today. Tomorrow is another day.
