Funny how sometimes one works on a painting consistently, obsessively, spending endless hours thinking, dreaming, staring at a work until suddenly one walks into the studio and realizes it's done. I actually feel let down. (That's why I usually have another work I can start on.)
This painting was fun to do from the start. The drawing had good "bones". It was simple and straightforward. To make it relatable to the subject, Nano Nore, I used the Norwegian flag colors and the reflection in the glasses is actually a copy of one of her own prints. When I asked her for other ideas to make the work more personal, I had already drawn the picture on watercolor paper. I was already past the time when I could change anything unfortunately.
Included here is my palette. It was unusually simple which made it all the more fun.
