When I work on a painting, each day I save the colors I use so that I don't have to spend an hour or so remixing them. This morning when I tested the rewetted colors I noticed there were speckles left on the testing paper. Upon further thought I realized I used an old brush that still had bits of maskoid in it. All of those remixed colors were ruined. So I ended up have to make new colors. I actually see that as a good thing. Maybe something new and unexpected will come out of it. (I only use old brushes for maskoid and mixing colors. I never use my expensive Series 7 Kolinsky Red sable brushes for practice.)

I am starting to darken skin tones going into the mauve range. There will be more drama when I go even darker.
