I am finished with this painting, but not happy with it at all. I got too tight in my brushwork. There is nothing loose and free and relaxed about this. I'll start on the third study this week and see if I can regain some spontaneity. Please keep in mind that I have never done any portrait work before. It is new, unexplored territory for me. I am having fun. And all these studies are in anticipation of one large work I am hoping to do.
