It is my pattern to allow my imagination to run rampant through
my head because that is how new ideas for artworks appear. When those ideas do appear,
I ASSUME I will be able to paint them. That assumption sometimes gives me big
headaches because I have no idea how to get the affects I need to make a work
come alive. Well, that’s what has happened with these bonsai tray landscape
drawings.
I haven’t painted tree bark in decades. So what have I been
doing to resolve this? I’ve been watching videos online, looked at art books
and practiced, practiced, practiced. Now I am finally ready to work on the painting.
