I explain how my ideas for paintings occur and the processes I use to paint them in watercolors.

Long Paintings
Here are some behind the scene facts. In the trash basket behind me is a 15 feet long watercolor. And those two little rolls on the bar stool are, respectively, 7 feet and 8 feet long watercolors. When I start an idea, I work from a roll of white butchers paper. When I start to draw a story, it sometimes just keeps going, and having an endless supply of paper, I just keep going until the story is finished. Fortunately for me I also work with rolls of watercolor paper, such as the one next to my right arm in the photo. Unfortunately for me, they are so long that I can't afford to frame them so they seldom get seen. They are also very difficult to photograph.
